What we stand for...
Streamlining Processes for RSOs
We want to make it easier for student groups on campus. We know that Campus Pulse is hard to use, that it is difficult to fill out a budget request, and that it is hard to use funding once you have it. We will work closely with Student Activities to centralize information RSOs need to know and information explaining how exactly to function within the schools systems. We will make these processes to be more transparent and accessible to every student. We believe in giving students the tools they need to make their organizations successful.

Increase Funding to RSOsThe Student Activities Trust Fund is where RSO funding comes from. This is a fee which students pay into in their tuition bills. Our question is why does the University not put more funding towards RSOs outside of this waivable fee? Student groups are what make the heart of this university and are key to our community thriving. Students gain real life experience through RSOs and the University should invest into our student organizations more.

SGA and CouncilsWe want to work towards improving the council system. Councils are a subsidiary body to the SGA and are supposed to be the liaison between the SGA and RSOs. We believe in the power of enhancing the council system to do more. Through the councils, we can bring together students from different RSOs to work together and bring our community together.
Integration of Transfer
AffordabilityWe want to help students who can’t afford necessities for their classes We will help grow the Iclicker initiative. We will collaborate with organizations already working towards making textbook prices more affordable or free. We will continue our work with MassPIRG on the open education resource initiative.
AdvisingWe have heard students complain about the advising system as it can be difficult to navigate. Sometimes different advisors give very different advise. We want to make it easier for students to understand what they need to do in their academics. We will work with the major departments to put together a centralized forum for advising needs.
We will work on improving the integration of transfers into UMass. Often, transfer students feel isolated because of either their living situation or due to lack of information they receive on getting involved. We will work towards new programs that will connect new transfers with older transfers and with the UMass community as a whole. We will work on advising for transfers and work with the bursar's office on improving the transcript process.
Through our experiences with both freshmen and transfer orientation, we realize the shortcomings of the NSO structure when it comes to information about getting involved and how to feel at home at UMass. We will work with NSO staff and administration on restructuring the NSO sessions and the information given to students during those times. We will also look into creating an overnight experience for transfers students who wish to extend their program and learn more information about getting involved.
We will work on both financial and environmental stability. We will partner with those working on these initiatives to ensure their growth.
